Alloy Wheel Restoration

At We Restore Alloys, we pride ourselves in providing a first class alloy wheel restoration service.
The We Restore Alloys restoration facility has been specifically designed to provide an unrivalled quality of wheel restoration. Our investment in state of the art equipment and our relentless attention to detail means that we deliver a quality of service to meet your expectations.
Each wheel undergoes the same thorough process. Your Wheels are Stripped back to bare metal, then repaired to remove all signs of damage. Wheels are powdercoat Primed, to prevent corrosion and colour is applied using high quality paints or powders. Finally the wheels are coated with a scratch proof powder coat lacquer to achieve the desired look. You can choose your colour to match existing or go for a complete change or custom colour. We can repair and refurbish wheels in almost any condition, including scrapes and scuffs, corrosion, dents and buckles and even cracks.

How ’We Restore Alloys’...

An insight into our standard alloy wheel restoration process...
Wheels Arrive
When your wheels have arrived the tyres are removed using our top spec Hoffman Megamount 702. Your tyres are marked for identification and stored on our racks. Your alloys will also be marked with a matching ID number. Remember wheels can be dropped off to us loose, with tyres fitted or you can take advantage of our hassle free Drive in Service and simply drop off your car.
If you are further afield, give us a call to discuss our nationwide courier service.

All wheels are individually inspected to assess their condition. Unlike a mobile repair, the entire wheel is assessed, including the rear of the wheels. The rear of the wheel is often forgot about but it doesn't take long for this corrosion to creep forward to the wheel faces. All wheels restored at We Restore Alloys have the corrosion removed from the rear. This area is powder primed, coloured and lacquered to give the same level of protection as the wheel faces. Tyres, centre caps, valves and old wheel weights all removed, ready to begin restoration...

Wheel Straightening
Wheels are checked for buckles and flat spots. This Zetamak wheel straightener will highlight any imperfections in the wheels shape. Buckles and flat spots will be corrected prior to re-finishing.

Wheel Preparation
When we know all wheels are true, we will carefully remove any kerb damage and signs of corrosion. All work is done by hand to ensure an A1 finish. Following initial prep, wheels are gently blasted in our blast cabinet to 'key' for powder coating. Note that we do not blast wheels aggressively and we do not use our blast cabinet to strip wheels. This process is purely used for surface preparation. Following the blasting process a final quality inspection is carried out on the wheel to ensure that all defects have been completely removed and that the wheel is ready for re-finishing.

Refinishing takes place within our purpose built booth. Wheels are heated to the required temperature in our state of the art oven, to expel any gases or moisture trapped in the alloy.
The entire wheel is then coated in a powdercoat primer. Wheels are then returned to the oven to cure the powder coat, ready for colour application.

Colour is applied by one of two main methods:
Powder coat

Wet Paint

Most manufacturer colours are applied as wet paint. Wheels are returned to the oven to cure the colour before finishing the wheel with a Crystal Clear, scratch proof powdercoat lacquer.

Lacquer is used to enhance the finish of the wheel, but most Importantly to protect the wheel against environmental influences such as water, dirt, salt and UV radiation.
